Workshop & Class Details...

You will be introduced to the skill of spinning a specialized weighted hoop & blending hula hooping with elements of dance & fitness. Begin to expand beyond waist hooping by adding hands & arms into the spin of your hoop. Warm up with yoga inspired stretches, utilizing the weight, shape & motion of your dance hoop.

Body Hooping:
find your body’s unique Body Rhythm while rocking through a cardio warm up that will get your blood pumping & your heart rate up

Focusing on the Core:
hooping on the waist, upper & lower abs & exploring directions & speeds

Learn About Lifts:
taking the hoop from the waist up above your head on your hands, hand hooping & moving between on & off the body hooping

Moves Introduced:
The Scoop, One & Two Hand Stalls, Turning & Spins, The Snake, Around the World, Helicopter & Lasso

A detailed Workshop Series designed with 4 Intermediate Classes that takes you beyond the basics of our introductory “Begin to Spin” Workshop. Take one or all of the classes as you are ready!

Each class will consist of warm up exercises, instructional time, group exercises & a sequence created to combine & transition the new moves introduced! Each class sequence is designed specifically for the students to continue practicing the new hoopdance moves & workout at home preparing for the next class.

It is recommended for new hoopers to Sign up for “Begin to Spin” before registering for the Momentum Series in order to build a foundational understanding of the moves, vocabulary & class structure we will be exploring & building on.

  • Core Rockin Class Details

    Class #1 Body Rockin & All Things Core

    The first class in the series will focus on all the different ways to target in on core hooping & all of its benefits including but not limited to; abdominal muscle conditioning, cardio, the overall balance & stabilizing effects of waist (and core) hooping. We will target in on the lower abs & the hip crease, work with lower rib hooping, neck hooping & an intro to shoulder hooping. Hand hooping around the body but inside the hoop (orbital moves) will be introduced, dropping back onto the body from the Vortex & finally taking it down to the floor for an intro to foot hooping!

    Moves introduced:
    No Mans Land, Orbital, Enter the Vortex, Jane Fonda & Sushi Roll

    *yoga mat is required for this class

  • Rhythm Tech Class Details

    Class #2 Getting Technical & Breakin To The Beat

    Targeting our core, buttocks & upper thighs with forward & backward angled hooping. Learning to isolate movement in the ribs & upper chest, strengthening the shoulders & upper arms & understanding our Body Rhythm in relation to the hoop & the music. This class covers: vertical plane hand hooping, angled body hooping, stalls & breaks from inside the hoop & out, grip switches & surface switches, & getting deeper into shoulder hooping & duck outs.

    The Booty bump, The Ninja Break, The Scissor Grip, The Elevator & The Matrix

  • Jedi Gypsy Class Details

    Class #3 Jedi Gypsies & Your Inner Warrior

    Building on our hand hooping skills utilizing our upper arm strength & shoulder openness we will learn to use more of the space around us & bring some fun to our hooping with crossovers & jumps, knee hooping, step throughs & step outs, arm & elbow hooping as well as an intro to behind the back hand to hand vertical pass offs.

    Moves introduced:
    The Warrior, The Flamingo, Through the Looking Glass, Down the Rabbit Hole & The Rising Sun

  • The Spotlight Class Details

    Class #4 Ready to Roll & Spice of Life

    The final class in this series is a twist on your regular, rhythmic body hooping using all of the strength & openness that we have been building throughout the Momentum series. This class will be a total body workout. We will continue to explore hooping moves but this time on different surfaces of our bodies. You will learn to roll, toss & pop the hoops up in the air!

    This class will help you add a bit of whimsy & flair to your hooping while at the same time teach you interesting hoop manipulations & introduce you to your hoop as a dance partner, as it rolls across the floor to meet you!

    Moves introduced:
    Barrel Rolls, Body Rolls, Hand Rolls, Walk the Dog, foot, Arm & Elbow Tosses & Pops

Payments are non-refundable & required to reserve a class space.
The remainder of your workshop payment can be paid in cash to your instructor on the date of the workshop.

Registration cancellation notice up to 48 hours before the Workshop date will allow for a one time transfer to the next available Workshop date.
